Pelican Express

Brief :

Giving a boutique travel brand a reason to be believed

Pelican Express came to us as a lean, founder-led tour operator with strong instincts and no brand system. We rebuilt it from positioning up — through audience strategy, visual identity, and the creative to launch it.

About the Project :

A trusted operator that had outgrown word of mouth

Pelican Express had grown on the strength of founder-led, on-the-ground travel expertise — the opposite of the mechanical, booking-engine feel of bigger platforms. But that strength was never written down: no defined positioning, no consistent visual identity, and no clear read on who the business was actually building for.

TFF was brought in to build the brand from first principles — what Pelican Express is, who it's for, and why anyone should believe it — through to a shippable identity and launch campaign.

Objectives :

What the brand needed to do

Positioning- Define a sharp, ownable proposition the whole brand could rally around — backed by real reasons to believe it.
Audience- Move from "everyone who travels" to a small set of prioritized personas the business could actually build for.
Identity- Design a visual system — logo, type, colour, voice — distinct from the polished-but-generic look of larger travel platforms.
Go-to-market- Package the brand into launch-ready creative across web and paid so positioning didn't stay stuck in a slide deck.

Approach :

From first principles to launch assets

  1. Unlock the brand- Four brand pillars and one proposition, distilled from founder-level questions.

  2. Map the audience- Five personas, each ranked by role in the go-to-market plan

  3. Build the identity- A mountain-and-sunrise mark, paired with a technical headline face and a warm body face.

  4. Launch it- Homepage, paid social, display and Instagram-native launch creative.

Audience Strategy :

Five personas, one clear hierarchy

Rather than treat every persona equally, we assigned each a distinct job in the go-to-market plan — so budget and messaging had a clear order of priority instead of spreading thin across all five.

  • Hero Audience- Experience Collectors
  • Volume Engine- Weekend Escapists
  • Premium Niche- Reigniters and Romantic Resettlers
  • Brand Buzz- All five personas

Brand Proposition

"We curate journeys beyond the ordinary."
